Welcome to “On the Couch” … a series of Q&A sessions dedicated to getting to know the amazing staff at Well Clinic
This week, we’re sitting down with Lauren Feldman, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) at Well Clinic in San Francisco.

What is your favorite part about your work?
It’s a gift to be allowed into peoples’ internal worlds and bear witness to so many different life experiences. Human connection can be such a powerful tool for healing, and it’s extremely gratifying to be a part of helping folks understand themselves better and harness their resilience.
What is your favorite place you’ve ever been?
Some years ago I took a solo trip to Nepal and trekked around the Himalayas, which was absolutely breathtaking!
Name five things that are on your bucket list (things to do before you die).
- Visit Thailand
- Visit Brazil
- Perform in drag
- Have some piece of writing published
- Learn salsa
What are five albums you’d want with you if you were stuck on a deserted island?
- Beyonce – B’Day, Lemonade
- Amy Winehouse – Back to Black
- Alicia Keys – Songs in A Minor
- Lady Gaga – The Fame
Where was your last vacation?
My last vacation was in the magical Basque Country in Spain. I went for a destination wedding and got to make stops in Barcelona and Berlin as well!
What cause(s) are you most passionate about?
- Transgender rights/protections
- Criminal justice reform
- Immigrant rights/protections
What is your favorite movie?
Good Will Hunting. This movie was probably the first time I saw a therapeutic relationship depicted on film. The dynamic between Matt Damon and Robin Williams’s characters is very powerful, and I’m sure unconsciously swayed me towards this profession! Also, it’s set in Massachusetts (where I grew up) and the heavy Boston accents are pretty endearing.
Name one guilty pleasure, past or present.
Reality TV (i.e. Real Housewives, Below Deck, Love Island, The Challenge)
