This week, we’re sitting down with Samantha Curiale, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) at Well Clinic in San Francisco.
What is your favorite thing about San Francisco?
My favorite thing about San Francisco is that my entire family is here.
What is your favorite place you’ve ever been?
My favorite place I have ever been is Munich, Germany.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up just across the Golden Gate Bridge in Mill Valley.
In your free time, what are you most likely doing?
In my free time, I am usually baking, cooking, hiking or spending time with my family and friends (or binging a Netflix comedy special).
Where was your last vacation?
My last vacation was to Japan. It is an incredible place.
What was your career before becoming a mental health practitioner?
Before working in mental health, I worked in the TV industry in LA for about 8 years.
Do you have any talents that few people know about? If so, what are they?
I used to do improve and stand up comedy.
What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is pasta. In particular, Carbonara.
What is your favorite book?
My favorite series will always be Harry Potter, but most recently I read and loved “Maybe You Should Talk to Someone” by Lori Gottlieb and loved it.
What motivates you?
I am motivated by the energy around me, particularly kindness. I believe most people in this world are good people trying to do good, and that motivates me.
Name one guilty pleasure, past or present.
My ultimate guilty pleasure is reality TV…I love everything Bravo.
What made you want to become a mental health practitioner?
I decided to go into mental health when I had a big health scare and realized most people were uncomfortable talking about it or didn’t know what to say. I decided I wanted to create a space for people to talk about the parts of life that aren’t so pretty
