“Therapy can make ongoing issues feel more manageable and better defined.”
Nowadays it can feel like just about everyone, from friends and acquaintances, to your favorite podcasters, are sharing about conversations with their therapist.
Maybe you have had a sense that things have been a bit off, or you find it difficult to voice the feelings or reactions you think you “shouldn’t” be having, or you just need to talk to someone about how difficult things have been. For some, it can be tough to imagine where to start, or how therapy would even be useful.
I am a believer in therapy because it can make ongoing issues feel more manageable, and better defined. Sharing your thoughts and experiences in an environment where you feel safe with someone outside of your regular day-to-day can make more of a difference than you might think.
My goal as a therapist is to create a safe, joyful, and collaborative space for clients to identify and deepen their existing strengths in situations of overwhelm, whether it be relationship conflict, phase of life issues, work or family-related stress, grief, or navigating a socio-political climate that is putting so many of us in a state of shock, fear, and uncertainty.
I received my training at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, and for the past six years I have worked in both individual and community mental health, immersing myself in the unique ways anxiety, depression, and histories of trauma impact LGBTQ+ individuals across a spectrum of intersecting identities.
