My approach

Shortly after finishing undergraduate education at UC Santa Cruz, Harry completed a masters degree in traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. Subsequently Harry trained in ashtanga yoga and ayurvedic studies in Mysore India, making yearly visits to India for 10 years. Still interested in a full spectrum approach to medicine, he completed a medical degree at the University of Arizona under mentorship with Dr. Andrew Weil, and a residency in Contra Costa Hospital in Family Medicine.

Dr. McIlroy’s interest and focus at The Well Clinic is offering an integrative approach to common psychiatric care. When treating mood and emotional conditions, Harry brings his extensive training and experience in Eastern and Western medicine to a whole system approach to his patient’s health.

Testimonials

When I found Harry I had been looking for a doctor who would really care about me as a person. I also wanted someone who understood Eastern medicine and wouldn't judge me for being into alternative medicine.

I deal with a lot of issues associated with anxiety and I didn't want to just be put on anxiety meds and brushed off. Although medication works sometimes, I don't want to rely on it for the long term. Harry provided me with a short term solution that included medication, but a long term treatment that included dietary changes, exercise, yoga and a few other things that are very particular to me.

He is totally unpretentious, there was no "I'm the doctor and you're the patient vibe." I think I will be working with him for a long time.
