As a psychotherapist, I have worked with people from a wide range of backgrounds and age groups. I have in-depth clinical experience with depression, anxiety, PTSD, cultivating intimacy and trust in relationships, and fostering self-esteem. Navigating sexual and cultural identity is another area of focus in my practice. In addition to my work with adults and couples, I have extensive experience in both private practice and San Francisco Unified School District providing therapy to children, adolescents and their families.
Talk therapy is the main modality that I use as a psychotherapist. Language is a vehicle that allows thoughts and feelings to have a voice. Oftentimes in response to relationship patterns and events that are beyond our control, this voice can become silenced or lost in translation. These missed opportunities can create barriers in our relationships that prevent us from experiencing deeper intimacy with ourselves and with others. A lack of joy, purpose and meaning in our lives is often the result.
Sometimes when talking isn’t enough, I offer other therapeutic options to complement traditional therapy. I welcome the exploration of dreams in session, as a way to gain more understanding and insight into your concerns. I also have sandtray in my office and am continually awed by the sandplay process as an avenue to healing.
